invisibleplan A beautiful and haunting album. Its like a brilliant soundtrack to the best film you've never seen. Very highly recommended. Favorite track: 1001 Steps.

about

The name Green Timbers itself is banal yet strangely sinister, which is quite fitting for the namesake from which it is taken, a small urban park and lake near the centre of the city I grew up in. This album is an aural exploration of the local history, legend and lives of the community there and where they intersected in my own life. Founded by early pioneers that cut their way into the dense forests and bogs along the river, the settlements that would eventually become my family's home in the new world, were isolated on the edges of western civilization. People pushed into the lawless wet wilderness where disappearances and tragedies were commonplace. Life was rough and trauma has a way of rippling through time, over the years the settlement would grow in infamy as social problems wove themselves into the very fabric of the blue collar community. Despite sprawling, unprecedented growth during my childhood, it never really escaped its rural, wild roots, rather it integrated them. It is from this dichotomy and personal history that I drew inspiration for Green Timbers.
